Valentine Marsh has had a gut-wrenching year. While negotiating the usual rocky social terrain of high school, she’s had a magical heritage thrust upon her, defeated a monster at grim personal cost (The Bronze King), and by a hair’s breadth foiled the soul-stealing scheme of a pair of evil necromancers (The Silver Glove). And even now she can’t catch a break!
During a New Year’s Eve party in New York, Valentine and her friends unwittingly launch a far-reaching magical flare. Within days, the sending attracts a new threat—an arrogant young noblewoman masquerading as a foreign student named “Bosanka Lonatz.” Bosanka gives Val a deadline to reconvene the New Year’s party, aka the “Comet Committee,” to help her summon her own lost people who might very well take over Earth, in place of the alien world they once ruled but had to abandon. With Granny Gran lying comatose in the hospital, Val must race time once more to forestall otherworldly disaster—but first she’s got to rally her scattered, unpredictable friends and get a grip on her own fears, for a final confrontation with an angry and powerful enemy.

I bought the second book ("The Silver Glove") of the trilogy some years ago, and had re-read it a few times. I liked it well enough that when I found out (via Amazon.com, I think) it was part of a trilogy, I wanted to find out how the storyline started. So I researched on Amazon.com and found the other two titles in it: the first one, "The Bronze King", and this third and last one, "The Golden Thread".Somehow, I was sort of disappointed that I didn't get to find out more about the place called "Sorcery Hall", and a few other things like that, but I still liked it; at least, f'rinstance, I know how the storyline starts, and stops. :-)
The author (even with the fairly minor disappointments I had) is a very good writer, and you can "feel" the sort of person the young protagonist is.
All-in-all, a good read. :)

The Golden Thread Sorcery Hall Book 3 eBook Suzy McKee Charnas Catska Ench Cory Ench Reviews
This book was purchased to complete The Bronze King Trilogy. Have not read it yet, but liked the first in the series well enough to purchase set. My son enjoys these stories, as do I. Very entertaining.
The saga of Valentine Marsh, daughter of a long line of witches trying to manage their
powers in the modern world, closes with Val and her circle of friends struggling to deal
with a poweful visitor from a world much rougher and crueller than ours, an alien
visitor who uses her own magic to try to force them to do her bidding. It's a tense, scary
adventure with a wonderful resolution that needs the strengths of each of the friends.
Great stuff.
